Kananga thanks the MoPH

The IHC of this locality in the district of Bokito benefited from a donation of health equipments.

This is the result of a request addressed to the Minister of Public Health following the appointment of Ms. Diane Laure Mbabou Mbayoum as head of the Kananga Integrated Health Center a few months ago. On this Tuesday, October 3, 2023, the satisfaction of the President of the Kananga Village Development Committee (CDK) Me Valentin Songolo Bétilené is evident, he who leads the recipient delegation. Normal, for someone who has placed the health of the populations of his village among the priorities of his mandate, in addition to other needs identified at the local level.

The Minister of Public Health showed a very attentive ear to this other grievance, following the creation last year of the Kananga Integrated Health Center and the appointment of a head of center,” confides Me Songolo. The equipment is composed, among other things, of beds, cradles, gallows, small surgical kits, and furniture intended for fitting out the center head’s office, etc. Enough to strengthen the work on the ground already undertaken by Ms. Mbabou the day after her appointment. The head of the IHC did not hide her joy at being thus privileged, in the quest for the health of the populations of Kananga and surrounding localities. The grant thus granted is estimated at around ten million CFAF.

It must be said that the village Kananga, located approximately 90 kilometers from Yaoundé, until then suffered from a deficit in local health care. In the mid-1980s, the locality, with its own funds, undertook to build what would be called “Case santé”, while taking the initiative of training a son of the village in the practice of nursing. This will constitute the golden age of health care in Kananga, unfortunately stopped a few years later. With the assignment of Ms. Mbabou, the elites of Kananga through the CDK, undertook to rehabilitate the old infrastructure while waiting for the construction of the IHC.

The equipment granted by the MoPH thus comes at the right time to boost health actions in favor of populations. According to the latest report from the Bafia health district which covers this health area, the recurrent diseases identified here include malaria, onchocerciasis and, in the recent past, schistosomiasis. Still thanks to the action of the elites, fecal peril diseases are a distant memory, following the strengthening of access to drinking water through the construction two years ago of three new boreholes, bearing the total of these infrastructures to six.

The concern once again shown by the Minister of Public Health towards the Kananga village is duly welcomed by the sons and daughters of this locality. It was with words of gratitude to the Health Boss that the delegation from Kananga left in the direction of Mbam-and-Inoubou, taking with it the tomorrows that drive the disease out of its land. Great hopes, particularly for women of childbearing age, who will now be able to more easily access prenatal consultations, as well as for better quality vaccinations, prevention and management of diseases in children.
